Puerto Ordaz

HISTORY

After the acquisition in 1998 by Ferroatlántica, Puerto Ordaz plant became the first plant out of Spain owned by the company.

Nowadays it’s fully integrated into the structure of Ferroglobe within all the other american plants.

PLANT FACILITIES
  • Three furnaces for producing ferroalloys
  • One additional furnace for producing Manganese alloys (Ferromanganese and Silicomanganese). The elements are produced by means of a process that reduces the oxides in the manganese mineral, using coal, in electric arc resistance furnaces and at high temperatures
  • Two single-phase furnaces for producing electrode paste and calcined anthracite
  • Fume treatment filters for each furnace
LOCATION

The factory is in Puerto Ordaz, situated in the Southeast of Venezuela, in the Industrial Area of Matanzas, close to the Orinoco river.
