Lowndesboro
Lowndesboro was established in 2005 to produce metallurgical grade gravel and was acquired by Globe Metallurgical in 2006. The proper characteristics of size, chemical properties and low impurities make Lowndesboro gravel a key component to silicon production. For more than 10 years Lowndesboro has supplied the silicon & ferrosilicon industry and stayed as a reliable low cost provider of raw silica quartz.

- Lowndesboro currently operates two wash plants and two mines
- All of the mines are surface operations that require excavators, trucks and dozers
- Loaders facilitate the washing process
- Washed material is sent to the rail site for loading or sent out directly via truck
All of Lowndesboro's operations are located in Autauga and Chilton counties near Billingsley and Prattville, Alabama. Gravel is shipped along CSX and NS Railroad. The main office is located in Prattville, Alabama. There is a regional airport in Montgomery, Alabama. The nearest international airports are Birmingham, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia.
